Why do I need a project editor?Project editing is the process of seeing a book through its various stages from first-draft manuscript to passing colour proofs for publication. This generally involves the following: - Copy-editing the manuscript
- Working with the author to resolve queries or to chase up any missing items
- Preparing preliminary pages and running heads
- Checking accuracy of references
- Checking illustrations, captions and illustration lists / suggesting suitable illustrations and signing off final illustation choices
- Proofreading or sourcing a proofreader
- Liaising with designers
- Checking colour proofs
- Approving for publication
