Why do I need a proofreader?Proofreading is the process of checking copy and marking up any errors. This is usually carried out on proofs or on-screen after a text has been copy-edited and updated by the typesetter/designer. Proofreading will check for the following: - Spelling
- Grammar
- Punctuation
- Misused words
- Mixed tenses
- Sense
- Design inconsistencies
- Incorrect capitalisation
- Ensuring specific house styles/style guides are followed
- Formatting problems
- Double spaces
- 'Widows' and 'orphans'
