My proofreading service will check for basics such as spelling, grammar and punctuation. Copy-editing checks for consistency and sense, and project editing sees a book through its various stages, from first-draft manuscript to passing colour proofs for publication. I work with book publishers, environmental agencies, charities, design and marketing agencies, blue chip corporations and students, as well as directly with authors following the self-publishing route. I use the British Standard proofreading marks as well as on-screen editing, and keep my skills up to date with publications such as the Oxford Style Manual, Chicago Manual of Style and Butcher’s Copy-editing.
